VECTAN smokeless powders are manufactured by the French company Nobel Sport, which belongs to the family of companies of the multinational company S.N.P.E. (Société National de Poudres et Explosifs). VECTAN powders are widespread and very popular both in Europe (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Holland, Belgium, etc.), and in the USA, where they are among the best-selling brands on the market (along with IMR, Hodgdon and Winchester powders).

The manufacturer Nobel Sport offers those interested in manual ammunition testing a wide range of smokeless powders, covering all common calibers and most non-traditional calibers. All VECTAN powders are marked with numbers, or a combination of numbers and letters. This marking determines the type of powder and its chemical, physical and visual properties. Some types of VECTAN powders also have color markings that help your visual orientation. Each type of VECTAN powder family is marked in terms of the appearance of its grains (Ba for roller powders, A for plate powders, Sp for ball powders and Tubal for perforated tube powders). With the exception of the Sp class powders, all VECTAN smokeless powders are single-component (nitrocellulose). VECTAN smokeless powders for reloading pistol and revolver ammunition are mostly fine-grained and have high burning values. VECTAN Ba10 and VECTAN Ba9 have been specially developed for hand-loading pistol and revolver ammunition, although virtually all VECTAN powders intended for hand-loading shotgun ammunition (VECTAN A, VECTAN Sp3) are suitable for this activity. For the testing of ball ammunition, smokeless powders of the VECTAN TUBAL type (Tu 2000, Tu 3000, Tu 5000, Tu 7000 and Tu 8000) were developed after World War II. In 1991, the Tubal class powders underwent modernization, which ensured an increase in their useful properties and their adaptability to new techniques and requirements of manual testing.
